The “Late Intermediate Universe” period of the history of prehispanic Peru precedes and generates the Inca Empire, and in this sense it fills a vacuum in the history of the Andean societies. The emergence of various regional political realities that had regular relationships – and sometimes conflicts– among each other configured a prehispanic landscape that slowly opened the way to the arrival of the Incas, who inaugurated a new era of political unification despite the enormous geo-cultural differences involved. This book, which has also been published in Italy and the United States, analyzes these arguments under historical, archaeological and sociological perspectives.
