Ollantaytambo. Cuna viviente de los incas
Beatrice Velarde
This photographic report on the foundation of Ollantaytambo is a tribute to the landscape and the Inca territorial planning, which achieved a geomorphologic-aesthetic coexistence between men with the Sacred Valley. While the contemporary urban and architectural contexts allow for the study of the Inca practices in planning and design, Ollantaytambo still maintains a living ethnography of its own, wherein its inhabitants live in continuity with their past. The book’s photography relies on the quality of the ancient stone work, the shadows it produces and the constant flow of water to reconstruct an ancestral world that animates the essence of today’s reality. The prologue is written by journalist Rafo León.
