Choquequirao – El misterio de las llamas del sol y el culto a los apus
Linda Lema
This book is the first interdisciplinary work on the archaeology of Choquequirao, an Inca ceremonial center located in the Vilcabamaba region, which historians associate with the heroic Inca resistance to the Spanish conquest of the 16th century. The influence of the Chachapoyas builders, the quality of the planning and the building typologies found at the site are analyzed by different authors whose final assessments imply a revaluation of the site’s ceremonial and ritual dimension. The prologue is written by Alejandro Toledo, president of Peru from 2001 to 2006.
